The procedure of working visa will differ for each country to be visited, but here we will introduce the visa procedure for working in the Philippines from Japan, taking the Philippines as an example.

Please check your passport expiration date before explaining the Philippine work visa. Please note that you can not enter the Philippines if the remaining period of your passport is less than the expected number of days to stay.

To work in the Philippines,
①Working visa (Prearranged Employee Visa)
②Alien Employment Permit
③Alien Certificate of Registration
are required.

“Alien Employment Permit: AEP” is a permission issued by Department of Labor and Employment: DOLE, AEP is necessary in case you work involved income over 6 months in the Philippines. And it is necessary to apply separately from working visa .

“Alien Certificate of Registration: ACR I-Card” is a certificate issued by the Immigration Bureau of the Philippines and is an identification card obligated toward foreigners staying over 60 days. By acquiring this, it is possible for you to open a bank account and it also becomes an identity card when re-entering the Philippines.

How to obtain working visa (Prearranged Employee Visa)

Let’s explain about getting working visa. Almost case, you would acquire working visa in case intra-company transferees or foreigners work at Philippine company.

The work visa, so-called 9G visa, takes 2 to 4 months from application to acquisition. Also, valid period for working visas is up to three years.

Since the Philippine Embassy in Japan does not conduct working visa application/permit, you need apply for working visa after entering the Philippines. Japanese people case, since visa is not required as long as stay period is within 30 days, you will apply for working visa, Alien Employment Permit and Alien Employment Permit after entering the Philippines without visa.

Because it takes time to obtain working visa, if you are likely to exceed stay permit period, you can stay in the Philippines by making stay extension procedure at the Immigration Bureau. Documents necessary for the extension procedure are
・Copy of your passport with remaining period of 6 months or more (page of name and date of birth)
・Application form and 1 photograph
・Documents certifying economic ability (bank balance certificate etc)
・Flight booking certificate or round-trip air ticket
・Identification(employment certificate, certificate of enrollment etc.)
・Documents certifying residence in the Philippines

Preparation of application form at Immigration Bureau(Consolidated General Application Form: CGAF)

Submission of necessary documents for preliminary review.

・Request letter from the company

・Consolidated General Application Form: CGAF

・Employer’s tax payment certificate

・Copy of annual financial report/articles of incorporation

・Copy of employment contract

・Copy of passport and resume

・Copy of Alien Employment Permit (AEP)

・Number of local employees and foreign employees of employers with notarized deed

・Additional documents such as family birth certificate/marriage certificate, etc. (if necessary)

Payment of application fee

Submission of copy of the receipt to the application window.

Interview

Submission of necessary documents to Alien Registration Division of Immigration Bureau. At the same time collection of photograph and fingerprints for ACR I-Card(Application must be done within 15 business days from signing date of employment contract). It takes 1 to 3 weeks from application to acquisition. You can confirm if visa has been issued from the Immigration Bureau website.

Submission of passport for filling in the approved visa information and stamping.
※Passport will be returned in a few days.

Receive ACR I-Card.
